  3. Enter the expected annual interest rate for your savings account.
  4. Enter the number of years you plan to save.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the compound interest formula considering monthly contributions and monthly compounding:

  • Initial Amount: Your starting balance.
  • Monthly Contribution: The amount you add to your savings each month.
  • Annual Interest Rate: The yearly interest rate of your savings account, entered as a percentage.
  • Number of Years: The duration you plan to save.

The calculation is based on the formula:

FV = P * (1 + r/n)^(nt) + PMT * [((1 + r/n)^(nt) - 1) / (r/n)]

Where:

  • FV is the future value of the savings
  • P is the initial principal (initial amount)
  • r is the annual interest rate
  • n is the number of compounding periods per year (monthly compounding means n=12)
  • t is the number of years
  • PMT is the monthly contribution

Limitations

Please note that this calculator provides an estimate based on the entered inputs and assumes a fixed annual interest rate. Actual savings growth may vary based on actual interest rates and changes in monthly contributions.
