Diffusion Kurtosis Estimator – Accurate Calculator Tool

This tool calculates the diffusion kurtosis values based on your input parameters to help you analyze diffusion MRI data accurately.

How to Use the Diffusion Kurtosis Estimator

To use this diffusion kurtosis estimator, enter the following values in the respective fields:

  • Gradient Strength (G): The strength of the gradient applied during the diffusion MRI scan.
  • Diffusion Time (Δ): The time between the application of the diffusion gradients.
  • Diffusion Tensor Value (D): The apparent diffusion coefficient value.
  • b-value (b): The diffusion weighting factor.
  • Signal Intensity with No Diffusion Weighting (S0): The signal intensity when there is no diffusion weighting applied.
  • Signal Intensity with Diffusion Weighting (Sb): The signal intensity when diffusion weighting is applied.

Click ‘Calculate’ to get the Mean Diffusivity (MD) and Kurtosis (K) values.

How It Calculates the Results

The estimator uses the following formulas:

  • Mean Diffusivity (MD): Calculated as MD = Sb / (S0 * b).
  • Kurtosis (K): Calculated as K = (S0 * b - Sb) / (S0 * b^2).

Limitations

This estimator assumes ideal conditions and may not account for various factors such as noise, patient movement, and other anomalies which might affect the signal intensities (S0 and Sb). Ensure to cross-verify results with standardized clinical procedures and consult with relevant professionals for accurate diagnostics.
