PSU Estimator – Accurate Power Supply Calculator

This tool estimates the power supply requirements for your computer build by analyzing your selected components.

How to Use the PSU Estimator

Enter the details of your computer components into the fields provided. Make sure to input accurate wattages for your CPU and GPU, and count the exact number of RAM sticks, HDDs, SSDs, case fans, optical drives, and USB peripherals. Click on the “Calculate” button to see the estimated power consumption of your system.

How the PSU Estimator Calculates Results

The calculator sums up the power draw from each component: CPU, GPU, RAM (each GB is assumed to consume approximately 3W), HDDs (each HDD consumes approximately 10W), SSDs (each SSD consumes approximately 5W), case fans (each fan consumes approximately 2W), optical drives (each drive consumes approximately 15W), and USB peripherals (each peripheral consumes approximately 2W).

An additional 20% buffer is added to the total to ensure the power supply unit (PSU) can handle power spikes and remain efficient.

Limitations

This PSU estimator provides a rough estimate and should be used as a guide only. It may not account for all the specific power requirements of certain high-performance components, overclocking, or peak load conditions. Always consider checking the manufacturer’s specifications for each component and consult an expert if in doubt.
